Delta County Court Docket Searches
Delta County splits its docket information across several offices. So where you look depends on the court level and the event you want to check. The misdemeanor docket index publishes dated PDF lists. They cover arraignment, pretrial, review, and other county criminal settings. For felony matters, the 8th Judicial District docket page posts Delta setting PDFs. Both show scheduled court business. Neither is a complete case-history database.
For a wider case lookup, turn to re:SearchTX. The Texas portal covers cases, filings, document text, and hearings. That applies when the local court is integrated and the record qualifies. A blank result there proves nothing. The county clerk page states that local records are not online as a searchable county collection. So the Delta County/District Clerk remains the key fallback for a court records request.
- Identify the court named on the citation, notice, pleading, or prior order.
- Check the matching official Delta County docket page for a dated list.
- Try re:SearchTX with the narrowest case, filing, or hearing search.
- Read the court, date, docket type, and cancellation or move notice.
- Confirm uncertain results with the clerk before relying on a setting.
Delta Docket PDFs Need Context
Delta County publishes much of its criminal schedule as public PDFs. One file may be labeled misdemeanor, arraignment, pretrial, review, felony court, or felony docket. Always open the file from the official index. County pages have carried corrections, moved settings, and cancellations. Saving only the PDF strips that context away.
When you know a cause number, search the PDF text for it. Then read the header. It should name the court, the date, the time, and the docket category. A scanned file may refuse text search. So do not treat the blank result as a missing Delta County docket entry. Ask the clerk for an accessible copy or a staff-assisted check instead.
Note: A dated setting PDF may be replaced. So check the live county page shortly before the appearance.
Court Dockets: What They Show
Think of a docket as an event index, not the full court file. A Delta County felony setting sheet has shown fields for case number, party, attorney or bondsman, offense date, action, bond information, passed setting, court cost, and bond type. Those headings explain the schedule without repeating personal facts from a real case. re:SearchTX lays things out differently, with location, case category, case type, filed date, parties, attorneys, and dated events.
| Case or Cause Number | The court's unique locator and the best term for a precise request. |
|---|---|
| Court and Location | The court that owns the Delta County docket and place tied to it. |
| Setting or Event | An arraignment, pretrial, review, hearing, filing, trial, or order. |
| Date and Time | The posted setting, subject to later resets or cancellations. |
| Status or Action | A short label for what occurred or what comes next. |
| Documents | Filings available when access rules and portal coverage permit. |
A court-cost column is not a payoff quote. A disposition label is not a certified judgment, either. For the official document, request it from the clerk who maintains the case.
Delta County Docket Search Fields
re:SearchTX gives you several search paths. Cases is the broad index route. Filings zeroes in on filed items. Text in Documents looks within eligible material. Hearings tracks settings. The official guide also walks through location selection, filters, sorting, detail links, export controls, and saved searches. Expect registration or sign-in. Know that documents may run through a cart or purchase flow.
| Control | Use | Delta Caution |
|---|---|---|
| Search type | Cases, Filings, Text in Documents, or Hearings | Each answers a different question |
| Search term | Enter the available case or party reference | Accepted syntax can change |
| Case Location | Narrow to the proper court location | Confirm the displayed Delta court |
| Sort | Order by filed date or case number | Sorting does not expand coverage |
| Case detail | Open events, filings, and hearing data | Some items remain restricted |
The county PDF route works differently. There is no name box or result screen. Pick a docket and date, inspect the official file, and call the clerk if the entry or a later change does not appear.
Delta County Courts and Their Dockets
In Delta County, each court keeps its own docket. The split follows jurisdiction, which is simply the authority to hear a given kind of case. A single unified County/District Clerk handles the paperwork, wearing two hats at once. The county side and the district side stay separate functions. Even so, one office runs them both. Justice of the Peace and municipal courts file their records elsewhere.
| Court | Docket Covers | Where to Start |
|---|---|---|
| 8th Judicial District | Felony criminal cases | Felony PDFs, then district-clerk function |
| 62nd Judicial District | District civil and family matters | Clerk and court contact; no populated PDF list confirmed |
| Constitutional County Court | Misdemeanors, probate, county civil work | County-clerk function and misdemeanor index |
| Justice of the Peace | Traffic, Class C, eviction, small claims | JP page, clerk, or counter |
| Cooper Municipal Court | City ordinance and Class C matters | City court and calendar pages |
One label raises a question. The clerk page says “County Court at Law,” but statewide activity material lists no Delta statutory county-court row. Confirm the current label with the clerk or a live directory rather than inventing a separate court.
Delta Docket Routing by Case
The filing court controls the route. A county misdemeanor goes to the county-clerk function and its PDF index. A felony belongs to the district-clerk function and the assigned district court, and divorce, family, tax, and broad civil actions sit on the district side too. Probate, guardianship, mental commitment, and county civil matters start with the county side. Traffic and fine-only cases may land with the JP or a city court.
Routing rule: Do not choose a court from a home address alone. Read the court name on the citation, notice, pleading, or order.
Cooper city cases do not merge into the JP docket. Pecan Gap is incorporated, but the city posts no public municipal docket or payment portal. Check its identity through the Texas Judicial Directory before sending a request.
Court Dates and Settings in Delta County
The misdemeanor and felony PDFs are the strongest local court-date sources. Their labels reveal the setting type. An arraignment is an early criminal appearance concerning the charge and plea. Pretrial settings handle motions, preparation, or resolution before trial. A review lets the court check compliance or progress. The felony header supplies the court, date, time, and category.
Do not confuse government events with trials. Delta County's general calendar and meetings pages are event tools, not trial schedules. Cooper states that municipal court is held on the first Thursday each month. Holidays or special settings may alter that pattern. The full Delta County court schedule workflow explains how to tell sources apart and confirm a date.
Note: Call the court that owns the case when a notice and an online list conflict.
Delta County Resets Stay Conditional
A reset only moves a setting. It never dismisses the Delta County case. The misdemeanor paperwork separates people with lawyers from people without, and the form itself asks for the cause number, the current setting, the reason, the requested date, the setting type, signatures, attorney information, prosecutor fields, and the judge's order. Lawyers of record file the motion through e-filing. Nothing takes effect until the signed process is complete.
An old one-week grace period has ended, the procedure says. Miss an appearance and bond forfeiture is the usual answer. If you cannot attend, contact the court at once and follow its current directions. A request is not approval. Silence is not a new date. Keep your submission and check the next docket entry to confirm what the court actually did.
Docket Access Under Texas Law
Not every Delta County record follows the same access law. Case filings normally sit with the clerk of the court. Administrative judicial records follow Rule 12 instead. The Texas Public Information Act covers many of those administrative records, but it is no blanket route into a court case. The Delta sheriff page routes requests for divorce, civil, criminal, felony, misdemeanor, and traffic records to the proper court custodian.
Key Rules:
Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12 governs judicial administrative records and denial review.
Government Code Chapter 552 is the Texas Public Information Act.
Family Code Section 58.008 restricts juvenile justice information.
Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 55A supplies the expunction framework.
Sealed, expunged, juvenile, and confidential material may not appear in any docket search. Ask the clerk whether an item is restricted or simply outside online coverage.
Delta Docket Copies Have Levels
Inspection, an ordinary copy, a certified copy, and a written search. Those are four different things in Delta County. A written search costs $5 per name per court, per the posted schedule. Recording fees run $25 for the first page and $4 for each added page. Those charges do not apply to a court copy. State law lists other clerk categories, so ask for the current quote before you pay.
Delta posts no turnaround for searches, copies, certifications, mail, or electronic delivery. Tell the clerk what you want. Give the court, cause number, record type, date range, and copy form. The clerk can also confirm whether certification is available for that record.
How the Clerk Keeps Docket Records
The Delta County/District Clerk is a single elected office. It wears two hats. The county side keeps county criminal, civil, probate, guardianship, and mental-commitment records. The district side handles the heavier filings. It holds felony, divorce, family, tax, and district civil files. Grace Crabb is the current clerk in the live directory. Older records may name a prior officeholder.

Delta County Docket Terms
Short labels save room on a docket sheet. Their meaning still turns on the case and the court. When shorthand is unclear, the filed order or certified record controls.
- Arraignment
- An early criminal setting concerning the charge and plea.
- Pretrial
- A setting for motions, preparation, scheduling, or resolution.
- Reset
- A move from one setting date to another, not a dismissal.
- Passed
- A notation that may show a setting was moved or not reached.
- Disposition
- The recorded outcome of a charge, claim, or case.
A docket may show only a future setting sheet, not every filing in the case. A case-detail view may list an event yet omit its restricted document.
Delta Dockets Reflect County Scale
Delta County counted 5,230 residents in the 2020 Census. OCA fiscal 2025 reports add context on court activity. But they are aggregate counts, not case lists. Small scale does not erase the court split. Two district courts, a constitutional county court, a JP, and municipal duties. Each sends Delta County court records to a different custodian.
Cooper is the county seat, and Pecan Gap is the other incorporated city. Local history helps, but the named court decides the live docket route.
Delta Court Technology Has Gaps
eFileTexas accepts filings in the courts it covers. It is not a public docket viewer. re:SearchTX is the statewide search layer. Records there are integrated and eligible. Delta's own statement that records are not online must stay in view. State integration does not prove all Delta data or criminal documents can be seen there.
Start with local PDFs for posted settings. Try the state portal for an indexed case or hearing. Then reach the correct clerk. County pages do not confirm any public terminal or staff-assisted access, so ask directly. A payment portal is not the full docket either.
City-by-City Court Dockets in Delta County
Two incorporated cities appear in official sources. Cooper had 1,911 residents. Pecan Gap had 178 in the 2020 Census city file. Cooper publishes a court description, a first-Thursday calendar, procedures, and a written-request route. It posts no public case database. Verify Pecan Gap's current municipal identity rather than substituting a county or Cooper link.
Cooper Court Records
Population 1,911 · Municipal schedule, citation routing, and city requests.
Pecan Gap Court Records
Population 178 · Current municipal docket channel needs live verification.
Skip the unincorporated communities when you work down a Delta County docket search by city. What matters is the issuing court printed on the citation. That court tells you which city or county docket your case sits on.
